Pages just have some yellowing, no dust jacket, inside covers have damage from removal of dust jacket. Former library edition. Library marks. Overall in good used condition.
When Dr. Lippa escaped from Austria and imprisonment by the Nazis, to China, he shortly found himself again embraced by totalitarian forces. After four years' enclosure in Shanghai by the Japanese, in 1947 he was free to travel to the interior, to Kaifung and a Catholic mission hospital there. It was then that Communists and Nationalists were playing cat and mouse in the area, and the story of the hospital was inextricably bound with these forces.
