Rare vintage Arabic-Hebrew Dictionary published in 1965 by Magnus Press of the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel. 432 pages; sturdy hardcover. This dictionary has simple definitions for basic words and was designed for the Jews who were kicked out of Arabic speaking countries such as Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Libya, and others. These Jews mostly spoke Arabic as their first language and a simple Arabic-Hebrew dictionary was a must in pre-computer/IPhone times. At least 1 million Middle East Jews were taken in and absorbed by Israel starting in 1948 till 1968. For Arabic speakers interested in basic 1960’s modern Hebrew this is also a great way to supplement Hebrew language learning. For scholars of 1960’s basic Arabic and Hebrew this is also a fascinating time capsule book. Note you can only search alphabetically from Arabic to Hebrew (not from Hebrew to Arabic). This is a historic book in very good to excellent condition (see pictures). Free shipping.
