Back in the day before the transistor and modern electronics, people communicated often via…get this…handwritten letters! OMG! That’s right. Hard to believe. No email. No internet chat. No FaceTime or Zoom! That’s why this totally mechanical contraption was invented. The mechanical postal scale is a relic of days gone by.

This Hamilton Postal Scale meant weighing a stamp to the nearest oz. and putting that many stamps on the letter. Done! No more having to take letters to the Post Office and asking how much? So few survived the garbage bin as digital electronic scales were invented. Who writes letters anymore, any weigh (pun intended)!
