Tiberius Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus was the fourth emperor of Rome, part of the Julio-Claudian Dynasty. His reign began in 41 CE when his nephew, Caligula, the previous emperor, was assassinated by the Praetorian Guard. He reigned until his death in 54 CE.

Philippi, Macedonia was an important provincial city of the early empire as seen by its wealthy of local coinage. The city is most famous for the Battle of Philippi where Octavian Caesar and Mark Antony defeated the leaders of Julius Caesar’s assassination.
