This basket was often used to wash finely ground grains before using a masa and matáte to grind the coarse grain into fine flour.

These baskets were woven with small branches to withstand the vigorous rinsing and grinding of whole grains to a coarse grain. This basket, while still considered vintage, is a modern version of the antique sifters. It uses steel rods rather than wood branches!

This basket, while in excellent vintage condition, does show wear from normal usage. Please review the photographs as they are part of the description.

It measures 19 inches from tip to rounded base. 14 inches in diameter, where the rounded bottom flattens into a bowl shape. It has 4-inch-high walls. Non-smoking and no pets in my home.
