Vintage 3 Piece Vanity Set w/ Brush & Mirror & Jar Art Deco
Mostly clean; some scratches & scuffs; some stains (melted?); brush has a bristle missing; some patina; looks great!
By the early 1900s, vanity sets had become more ornate. The Edwardian era’s Art Nouveau movement inspired vanity set designs. Materials like celluloid and Bakelite were used, along with silver- and gold-plated metal. Subjects like flowers and peacocks were typical graphics, particularly on the back of mirrors.
By the Art Deco period of the 1920s and 1930s, vanity sets were at their peak in terms of variety and quality of design. Filigree trays with mirrored bottoms were essential to the overall look of vanity sets. Items like manicure tools, hair pin holders, shoe horns, perfume atomizers, and pill boxes were artfully displayed on these trays.
The Art Deco movement extended into the 1940s. Bakelite, celluloid, brass, enamel, ivory, and porcelain were common materials.
