This is NOT a traditional First Day of Issue "cover." It is two pieces of thin cardboard (presumably glued together) each with postmarked USPS 1974 Christmas stamps and the 1974 Franklin Mint Medal "The Christmas Carolers."

The "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE" (obverse) has the "Peace on Earth" stamp. It is the first self-adhesive stamp issued by the USPS. The stamps (The Currier and Ives "Winter Road" is also here) were cancelled on the date of issue (Nov 15 1974) for the dove stamp in New York, NY. The medal shows a family inside their home enjoying the carolers' outside their window.

The reverse of the cards has the "Altarpiece, Metropolitan Museum" stamp and is postmarked on Dec 25 1974 in Bethlehem, PA. The medal shows the carolers singing outside a home.

There is various other information printed on each side about the medal and the 'cover' creators.
