Antique wooden barrel spigot, also called a keg tap or bung tap, made by John Sommers. Stamped JOHN SOMMERS BEST No. 1 ¼ x 1, this hardwood spigot was used in wooden barrels and casks for dispensing beer, cider, wine, or whiskey. The long tapered end fits into the barrel bunghole, and the side handle turns to open or close the flow.
