There are handwritten notes, newspaper clippings, herbal recipes, and silk ribbon among other hidden treasures that were placed by the original owner Mary L. Whitney of Maine. There are some stains and water damage on some of the pages. The cover is leather with some wear. Binding is strong and in tact.
