First edition, first printing hardcover copy of Donizetti & The World of Opera in Italy, Paris & Vienna in the First Half of the Nineteenth Century by Herbert Weinstock (Pantheon Books, 1963). An intricate look at the acclaimed composer as well as the musical and dramatic world of Opera in which he occupied at the time. Jacket now protected in new archival sleeve but with moderate rubbing/scuffing to faces and shelf wear around the edges. Some faint staining due to liquid exposure visible on jacket rear. Boards straight and clean but with corners bumped. A few instances of mildly split binding and slightly cocked spine. Previous owner’s inscription and sticker on front endpaper. Some staining to top outer edge of most pages. See photos for condition.
